Work made to other people's briefs, in my own material. Two commissions live here. A set of glass antlers for a museum sculpture, now at Länsmuseet Gävleborg, and the Nordic Spice series for Absolut Vodka. On a commission I work toward someone else's idea and form: I blow the glass and finish the surface until it sits inside the whole it belongs to. The antlers were made both as the finished pieces on the sculpture and as separate framed studies. The same shape reads differently in clear glass and in frosted.
The finished sculpture in place, blown clear-glass antlers set into a carved wooden head. This is what the antlers were made for. Länsmuseet Gävleborg, under blue exhibition light.A single antler in frosted glass, standing in a backlit walnut case. The matte surface holds the light instead of letting it pass straight through.A pair of antlers mounted facing each other as wall pieces, frosted glass on cherry wood in a walnut frame. One antler laid horizontally in a walnut frame, the wood carrying its shadow. One antler in clear glass, a studio shot. Away from the sculpture, the form and the weight of the glass read on their own.Absolut Vodka, the Nordic Spice series. Hand-blown glass for the campaign on the China and India markets.
